1. Accordingly to provisions in Articles 1© and 1(e) of its statutes, the Codex Alimentarius Commission shall "determine priorities and to initiate and guide the preparation of draft standards through and with the aid of appropriate organizations" and shall "amend published standards, after appropriate survey in the light of developments".
2. On consideration of Article 6 of the introduction of the Procedure for the Elaboration of Codex Standards and related Texts, the Secretariat of the Codex Alimentarius Commission has been reviewing several standards adopted by the Commission prior to 1991.
