21. The Executive Committee noted the progress towards achieving the current medium-term objectives (1993-1998). It endorsed the proposals of the Secretariat to transmit the outline of the Medium-Term Plan 1998-2002 to Member Governments for comment and finalization by the Executive Committee at its 45th Session (see paragraph 9 of the working paper).
22. The Executive Committee recommended that the proposed Medium-Term Plan also give due consideration to the need for a horizontal approach to methods of analysis and sampling in all aspects including methods for pesticide and veterinary drug residues. It was suggested by one Member that the subject of biotechnology in foods be given priority in the Medium-Term Plan.
