The Secretariat was requested to prepare a document outlining the proposed Change in the Quota Distribution System.

The Secretariat was requested to prepare a document on the policy for the use of languages in the Organization.

Strategic Framework

The Council was requested to review at its November 1998 Session, the desirability of involving the 1999 CFS in the Strategic Framework.

After noting concerns about the workload of the 1999 CFS, but appreciating that some Members still considered that there was merit in involving the next CFS, the Council agreed that the agenda should be determined as usual in consultation between the CFS Bureau and the Secretariat.

Corporate Communications Strategy

An enquiry was made as to the status of the Corporate Communications strategy and some Members requested that a copy of the strategy be made available to them.

A copy of the strategy was sent to those Members who requested it.

Report on Decentralization

The Secretariat was requested to prepare a document on Decentralization.

This document will be presented at the Joint Meeting of the 81st Programme Committee and the 92nd Finance Committee.

Special Reserve Account Utilization

In approving the use of the SRA for up to US$ 5 million, the Committees noted the Director-General's assurance that every effort would be made to absorb within the appropriation the US$ 5 million required to cover the cost of the ILOAT award on GS staff salaries, to the extent possible.

The current status will be reported under the heading Special Reserve Account, in the Annual Report on Budgetary Performance, to be submitted to the Finance Committee at its 92nd Session.

Evaluation of Training Activities

In the light of JIU recommendations, the Secretariat was requested to undertake a review of training activities possibly in connection with forthcoming Programme Implementation or Evaluation Reports.

The Secretariat was asked to prepare a document on the mainstreaming of gender, consistent with the Conference's request concerning the implementation of the Plan of Action for Women in Development.
