PROGRESS REPORT ON THE FOLLOW-UP TO PAST PROGRAMME COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS

CL 115/8 para. 72	Recruitment Whilst recognising the competence of the Finance Committee in this matter, the Programme Committee requested that they be apprised of developments regarding recruitment.	A document has been prepared for consideration by the Finance Committee at its 92^nd Session.
CL 115/19 para. 37	Review of Statutory Bodies The Secretariat was requested to complete the Review of FAO Statutory Bodies as soon as possible.	A Council document will be presented at the Joint Meeting of the 81^st Programme Committee and the 92^nd Finance Committee.
CL 115/8 para. 72	Quota Distrubution of Publications The Secretariat was requested to prepare a document outlining the proposed Change in the Quota Distribution System.	This document will be presented at the Joint Meeting of the 81^st Programme Committee and the 92^nd Finance Committee.
CL 115/8 para. 81	Language Policy The Secretariat was requested to prepare a document on the policy for the use of languages in the Organization.	This document will be presented to both the 81^st Programme Committee and the 92^nd Finance Committee for consideration seperately.
PC 80/7 para. 17	Strategic Framework The Council was requested to review at its November 1998 Session, the desirability of involving the 1999 CFS in the Strategic Framework.	After noting concerns about the workload of the 1999 CFS, but appreciating that some Members still considered that there was merit in involving the next CFS, the Council agreed that the agenda should be determined as usual in consultation between the CFS Bureau and the Secretariat.
CL 115/8 para. 74	Corporate Communications Strategy An enquiry was made as to the status of the Corporate Communications strategy and some Members requested that a copy of the strategy be made available to them.	A copy of the strategy was sent to those Members who requested it.
CL 115/8 para. 81	Report on Decentralization The Secretariat was requested to prepare a document on Decentralization.	This document will be presented at the Joint Meeting of the 81^st Programme Committee and the 92^nd Finance Committee.
CL 115/19 para. 28	Special Reserve Account Utilization In approving the use of the SRA for up to US$ 5 million, the Committees noted the Director-General's assurance that every effort would be made to absorb within the appropriation the US$ 5 million required to cover the cost of the ILOAT award on GS staff salaries, to the extent possible.	The current status will be reported under the heading Special Reserve Account, in the Annual Report on Budgetary Performance, to be submitted to the Finance Committee at its 92^nd Session.
CL 115/8 para. 70	Evaluation of Training Activities In the light of JIU recommendations, the Secretariat was requested to undertake a review of training activities possibly in connection with forthcoming Programme Implementation or Evaluation Reports.	This item will be addressed at a future meeting.

CL 115/8 para. 78	Evaluation and the New Programme Model The Secretariat was requested to review post-facto reporting mechanisms in the framework of the New Programming Model.	This item will be addressed at a future meeting.
CL 115/8 para. 81	Evaluation and the Strategic Framework The Secretariat was requested to prepare a document on Programme Evaluation in the context of the revised programme framework.	This item will be addressed at a future meeting.
CL 115/8 para. 34	Evaluation and Small Projects The Secretariat was requested to consider the development of appropriate cost-effective evaluation methodologies given the move towards small size, short duration projects.	This item will be addressed at a future meeting.
CL 115/8 para. 81	Mainstreaming Gender The Secretariat was asked to prepare a document on the mainstreaming of gender, consistent with the Conference's request concerning the implementation of the Plan of Action for Women in Development.	A document will be submitted to the 82^nd Programme Committee in September 1999.
CL 115/8 para. 63	Special Programme for Food Security Regarding the Special Programme for Food Security, the Secretariat was requested to prepare an up-date in the form of an INF document for presentation to the 115^th Council.	The document was submitted to the 115^th Council.
