MEMBERSHIP OF THE WFP EXECUTIVE BOARD |
1. In accordance with Resolution 9/95 adopted by the 28th Session of the FAO Conference on 31 October 1995, whereby the Committee on Food Aid Policies and Programmes was reconstituted as the Executive Board of the World Food Programme, the 118th Session of the Council is required to elect six members of the WFP Executive Board for a term of office of three years from among FAO Member Nations.
2. For purposes of election to the Board, FAO Member Nations are divided into five separate lists (A, B, C, D and E) as shown in Appendix A to this document.
3. The present composition of the WFP Executive Board is as follows, with the List (as per Appendix A) to which each member belongs indicated in brackets:

4. The Council will therefore be required to elect six members, for a term of office expiring on 31 December 2002 to replace the ones whose terms end on 31 December 1999, i.e. Australia, Brazil, Jordan, Senegal, Slovakia and Spain.
5. In anticipation of the adoption of Resolutions by the 30th Session of the FAO Conference and the UN General Assembly on the revision of the General Regulations of the WFP regarding the distribution of seats on the Executive Board starting from 1 January 2000, the six seats to be filled by the 118th Session of the Council for the period 2000-2002 are 2 from List A (including the seat rotating among the States in Lists A, B and C), 1 from List C, 2 from List D and 1 from List E.
6. Outgoing members are eligible for re-election.
7. A nomination form is given in Appendix B to this document, and the deadline for submission of nominations to the Secretary General of the Council is 12.00 hours on Monday 22 November 1999.
