ADVANCED COURSE ON PLANT GENETIC RESOURCES: BIOLOGICAL AND SOCIAL STAKES

This Regional Conference is organized by the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) in collaboration with FAO, the Association for International Promotion of Gums (AIPG) and UNEP. Participants will belong to producer, consumer and food industry categories together with international organizations and leading experts on plant gums, resins and oils.
The following themes will be covered at the conference: Conservation of plant gums, resins and oil resources (taxonomic aspects, ethnobotany and indigenous knowledge, ecological aspects, germplasm conservation); management of the resources (management in natural environment, domestication and propagation, management of plantations, extension); production and product utilization (field production and handling, marketing aspects, quality assessment and control, processing and utilization, policy and institutional aspects); workshop on development of project ideas and strategy for regional collaboration.
