7. Pilot surveys

Pilot surveys should be designed, in particular, to detect possible sex biases corresponding to the questionnaire items on population and the variability of survey data by sex, as well as for estimating the cost, timing, coverage, non response, and enumeration workload of the survey operation. Possible sex biases should be taken into consideration to test these operations.

In the light of the information collected during the pilot surveys, sex related biases concerning those aspects of the data collection operation should be recognized and controlled.
