Project objectives:
Studying the natural and hybrid populations of Amygdalus communis L. and identifying perspective individuals and genotypes to be utilized in the collection; the usage of various complex methods in breeding, such as hybridization, experimental mutagenesis and polyploidy in order to obtain a wide range of variability of characters and new, adaptable, highly fruitfull varieties with nut good qualities.
Project summary:
Study of genotypical and phenotypical variability of a hybrid population interspecific crosses, chiefly backcrosses, study of heritability of characters; interspecific hybridization for producing resistant rootstocks; use of experimental mutagenesis and polyploidy for improving almond cultivars.
