Policy assistance work > Quality assurance of policy assistance work

EASYPol forum is launching a new discussion topic titled "Quality assurance of policy assistance work". This topic has been raised by Vito Cistulli in the context of the establishment of a corporate quality Assurance Framework for FAO Policy Support to member countries and regional organizations, in line with the Results Based Management system under development in FAO.

The discussion aims at identifying:

basic criteria to be used for Quality Assurance of policy assistance provided by TCA and
the main actors, its roles and responsibilities within the quality assurance framework.

As a contribution to the dicussion you may wish to consider the OECD/DAC definition:

"Quality Assurance encompasses any activity that is concerned with assessing and improving the worth of a development intervention or its compliance with given standards. Examples of quality assurance activities include appraisals, result-based management, review during implementation, evaluations, etc. Quality assurance may also refer to the assessment of the quality of a portfolio and its development effectiveness" (OECD-DAC 2002/Evaluation and aid effectiveness, No. 6).
