CountrySTAT projects assist participating countries with set-up, training and ongoing support. The work is carried out under several FAO projects, funded by the European Union, private donor organizations, and others.
Food Security Information for Action Programme
The Food Security Information for Action Programme is funded by the European Commission and implemented by FAO.
The programme is designed to enhance national capacity to generate, manage and use food security information from different sectors for more effective policies and programmes. This multi-disciplinary country-based initiative draws on FAO’s wealth of expertise in early warning and remote sensing, economic and policy analysis, statistics, nutrition, inter-agency coordination, and training and capacity building.
CountrySTAT will harmonize and integrate sub-national data on food and agriculture within and between these countries through the implementation of a centralized and standardized database framework, data exchange platform, and set of analysis tools. In so doing, it will facilitate planning and decision-making by policy makers and analysts, particularly in the push to reduce hunger and poverty.
