Togo launches CountrySTAT

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, in collaboration with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Economic and Monetary Union of Africa (UEMOA), organized the official launch of CountrySTAT in Togo - a web-based system that aims to improve access to reliable national statistics on food and agriculture at the national and regional levels on 19 October 2012.

The event took place in the premises of the hotel EDA-OBA in Lomé, and was attended by 200 participants from the Ministries, representatives of the Technical and Financial Partners, Secretaries and General Managers of various departments, , members of the Multidisciplinary Working Group CountrySTAT-Togo and the media.

The objective of the event was to increase the visibility of CountrySTAT and to draw attention on the urgent need to implement policies aiming at reducing hunger and malnutrition. It is expected that CountrySTAT Togo will provide a powerful tool for decision-makers, development partners and other users in the fight against hunger and poverty in Togo.
