International Conference on Agricultural Statistics

The 21st Century represents the era of information and knowledge. Agriculture information systems around the world are changing as fast as technology.

The international conference on agriculture statistics (ICAS) is a series of conferences which started in 1998 based on the overarching need for agricultural data worldwide. ICAS is held every three years to address issues of agricultural statistics (information/data) development.

Discussions have focused on providing information to monitor poverty related development programmes, particularly in low income countries. Consensus was built on developing national statistical systems that can meet the monitoring and evaluation requirements of development frameworks, such as Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSP) and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
