About us

FAO statistics collates and disseminates food and agricultural statistics globally. The division develops methodologies and standards for data collection, and holds regular meetings and workshops to support member countries develop statistical systems. We produce publications, working papers and statistical yearbooks that cover food security, prices, production and trade and agri-environmental statistics.

Capacity development
Ongoing training and project technical assistance projects develop the capacity of national statistical offices and departments responsible for agricultural data collection.

Corporate statistical database - FAOSTAT

FAOSTAT contains time-series statistical information for 245 countries and territories from 1961 to the most recent year available. It covers food and agriculture from production, consumption, trade, prices and resources, nutrition, fisheries, forestry, food aid, land use and population. It is currently the world’s largest and most comprehensive statistical database on food and agriculture.
