Description
Approved a budget of Baht 40 billion (USD 1.2 billion) to provide a one-off payment to rice producers facing low prices, as part of a stimulus package for the economy. According to the decision, farmers cultivating up to 15 rai (2.4 hectares) will receive Baht 1000 per rai cultivated (USD 193 per hectare), while households cultivating rice beyond this extension will be granted Baht 15 0000 (USD 475) each. Payments are to be issued by 20 October 2014.
