Supported research on raw glycerol (a by-product of vegetable oil-based diesel production) with a view to enhance value addition in the biodiesel sector.
Notes
In Canada, a provincial grant has been made available to the University of Saskatchewan to carry out research on glycerol purification and conversion technologies. Currently, raw glycerol a byproduct of vegetable oil-based diesel production is said to have limited commercial value, but improved technologies could double the price that companies can charge for the substance, thus adding considerable value to biodiesel production.
