Description
Announced that, in response to a request from Viet Nam, China (Mainland) would raise water discharges from the Jinghong Hydropower Station in Yunnan between 15 March and 10 April 2016. The measure is meant to raise water levels in the Mekong River and help alleviate water shortages associated with drought in Cambodia, Myanmar, the Lao People\'s Democratic Republic and Viet Nam. Officials subsequently decided to extend the increased water discharge until 31 May 2016.
