Description
Increased the maize purchasing price by 13 percent, from MWK 75 per 50 kg bag (USD 2 per tonne), set in May, to MWK 85 per 50 kg bag (USD 2.4 per tonne) for the 2016/17 marketing year (May/April). The adjustment was made to better reflect higher maize input prices, which farmers have faced since the 2015 depreciation of the local currency.
