Description
Launched a regional initiative with the Pacific Community, aimed at improving the competitiveness of small coconut producers in the Pacific region.
Notes
A regional initiative aimed at (i) improving the competitiveness of small producers in the Pacific coconut industry, (ii) enhancing regional policy integration, (iii) strengthening links in local value chains, and (iv) supporting capacity building has been launched by the Pacific Community (SPC) together with the European Union. Reportedly, the three-year, 3.5 million Euro (USD 3.8 million) project, will start with the implementation of pilot projects in Samoa and Vanuatu. Under the initiative, training and awareness programmes will be developed, along with a manual on risk management and mitigation tools for farmers, processors and other stakeholders.
