Description
Raised the minimum support prices for milling and ball copra aiming to i) ensure remunerative prices for coconut farmers; and ii) encourage investment in coconut cultivation.
Notes
The Central Government raised the minimum support prices (MSP) for milling and ball copra to, respectively, INR 75 000 (USD 1 153) and INR s 77 500 (USD 1 191) per tonne – up 15 percent from last year’s rates. The new MSP are meant to ensure remunerative prices for coconut farmers and encourage investment in coconut cultivation. India’s national farmer and consumer cooperatives would continue to act as central nodal agencies responsible for procurement operations in coconut growing states.
