Description
Indonesia and Malaysia agreed to join forces– under the auspices of the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries– to address perceived barriers in global palm oil trade.
Notes
The world’s two leading palm oil exporting nations agreed to organize joint ministerial missions to western, importing countries to address perceived barriers to palm oil trade. According to Malaysian and Indonesian government officials, anti-palm oil campaigns are hurting global exports and have negatively affected growth of their domestic palm oil industries. The bilateral effort will be carried out under the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries that was established in 2015 (see MPPU Nov.’15).
