Description
Announced that the subsidized fertilizer programme would be continued, as part of its 2015 budgetary allocations. Additional support measures to the sector would include the provision of rice seeds to smallholders free of costs, as well as higher guaranteed prices of Rupees 34 - 40 per kilo (USD 259-305 per tonne). A separate Rupees 2.3 billion (USD 17.5 million) would be allocated to develop abandoned paddies, under a three-year rehabilitation programme launched in 2014, with credit and extension services availed to producers who cultivate these lands.
