Description
As part of its 2016/2017 budgetary allocations, kept allotments for agricultural subsidies unchanged at BDT 90 billion (USD 1.1 billion), while announcing that, in order to sustain productivity improvements, it would continue facilitating credit, extension services, research, production and distribution of high yielding seeds, as well as promoting the use of organic fertilizers. In addition, it would aim to raise domestic procurement of rice in 2016/2017 to 1.85 million tonnes, up from 1.43 million tonnes for 2015/16.
