Description
Signed the Malaysia-Australia Free Trade Agreement, to come into force in January 2013. Under the accord, Australian deliveries will be undertaken under an open licensing system, permitting any entity to apply for rice import licenses as of 2023. Malaysia is also to introduce a bound import tariff of 30 percent on rice shipments originating from Australia in 2023, which will be reduced annually until it is completely phased out in 2026.
