Signed agreement with the national oilseeds industry federation aimed at tripling country’s area seeded with oilseeds by 2020.

MOROCCO – oilseed production expansion: An agreement signed between the agricultural ministry and the national oilseeds industry federation aims at tripling the country’s area seeded with oilseeds between now and 2020. The initiative, which targets in particular sunflowerseed and rapeseed, is expected to reduce the country’s dependence on vegetable oil imports. In 2020, oil production from locally grown seeds is anticipated to cater for 19 percent of domestic consumption as opposed to only 2 percent at present.
