En este documento se ofrece una evaluación de la situación actual del mercado y de las proyecciones a plazo medio a 2014 para las frutas tropicales. Se adjuntan cuadros estadísticos y un compendio estadístico sobre producción, importaciones, exportaciones, consumo y precios también está disponible en el internet (véase Compendio sobre las Frutas Tropicales). La información utilizada en este documento se reunió principalmente a partir de las respuestas a un cuestionario sobre las frutas tropicales, que se completaron con datos de la base de datos FAOSTAT de la FAO. Se tuvieron también en cuenta datos secundarios de investigaciones de gabinete.

TFNet and the UPM Pilot Plant Course on Fruit Juice Processing
This course on Fruit Juice Processing is jointly organised by TFNet and the UPM Pilot Plant for would-be entrepreneurs. The pilot plant scale represents the first step and is an appropriate starting point for commercialisation. This course covers practical aspects of fruit juice processing, including familiarisation with all processing equipment in the pilot plant and hands-on step-by-step practical session in the preparation of fruit purees, juices and cordials. This course is divided into 2 modules: Module 1 deals with fruit processing and the session will be conducted entirely in the pilot plant. Participants have the option of continuing with Module 2 which deals with the business aspects in running a fruit processing small and medium enterprises (SME).
