Round tables on the role of interprofessional organizations in cereal value chains were organized in 2009 in Mali and Burkina Faso. In Burkina the round tables gathered stakeholders from the maize and sesame sectors and in Mali from the rice and sorghum-millet sectors. Subsequently a regional stakeholder workshop was held in Senegal with participants from seven West African countries. The goal was to take stock of existing initiatives and policies and to discuss the best ways to develop inter-professions in the cereal sector.
