FAO’s From Protection to Production (PtoP) project is seeking an international consultant to undertake qualitative analysis of the labour impacts of cash transfer programmes in sub-Saharan Africa. The purpose is to gain a better understanding on the potential contribution of social protection interventions towards decent employment in rural areas. The qualitative case study will examine the impacts of cash transfer programmes on employment dimensions, including labour allocation, employment creation, decent working conditions, migration patterns and child labour reduction.

Specific areas of research include women’s empowerment, labour and employment, food security, agricultural technical efficiency and social networks. The three research economists will join a team of economists, anthropologists and policy specialists.
