Join world banana industry leaders and the most relevant representatives of the sector in Ecuador this upcoming February. Participate in the Second Conference of the World Banana Forum (Guayaquil, 28-29 February 2012) to hear, debate and shape the future of global banana production and trade.
The World Banana Forum (WBF) is THE voice for the global banana sector, convening leaders from the entire supply chain. No other platform brings together all the players –workers and producers, multinationals, retailers, certifying bodies, researchers, NGOs, governments and UN agencies– in common pursuit of a more sustainable banana sector.
Over two days, experts from all over the world will meet in Guayaquil and share the last findings on the hottest topics affecting banana production and trade. The three permanent Working Groups of the WBF focus on environmental, economic and social sustainability respectively. They will present their pilot projects, explain their work plan and invite you to join them in their common effort.

These are some of the areas currently being tackled by the WBF:
- sustainable production systems and environmental impact,
- freedom of association and collective bargaining,
- gender equity and health and safety at the workplace.

Don't miss the opportunity to attend the global meeting of Women Banana Workers carried out by the WG03 of the WBF on February, 24th, 25th, and 26th, 2012 in Guayaquil. The WG03 recently conducted a study that included the analysis of the situation of women workers’ labor rights along the banana production chain globally. The meeting is open to all women banana workers who wish to share their experiences and discuss on the challenges met along the banana production chain. • LOCATION and ACCOMODATION: the conference will be held at the Hotel Ramada of Guayaquil. Please arrange your own hotel reservations; you will find a list of suggestions here .
• WHO SHOULD ATTEND: the conference is open to all organisations and individuals with a special interest in the banana sector.
• VISA: You may need a Visa to travel to Ecuador. Please take this into consideration when organizing your trip. We suggest that you contact the nearest Ecuadorian Embassy to the place where you live. The Secretariat of the WBF can provide you with invitation letters upon request.
