Partners

FAO’s partners in preparing for and responding to food and agriculture threats and emergencies are first and foremost the Governments of the countries in which this work takes place. They provide the institutional framework for our actions as well as ensure that the capacities we are helping to develop are maintained over time.

Resource partners are also key to the success of our work. They provide the funds with which we are helping vulnerable farming families to recover from crises. Without the support of our resource partners, our work will simply not exist and thousands of rural households affected by natural disasters, diseases or conflict would fall deeper in poverty and hunger.

United Nations Agencies and international Non-Governmental Organizations are crucial partners in the fight against hunger, especially the Rome-based Agencies: the World Food Programme and the International Fund for Agricultural Development. Together we engage in strategic partnerships, such as the global Food Security Cluster (WFP and INGOs), the International Alliance to end Hunger (IFAD, WFP, CGIAR, INGOs and the private sector), the coordination of global activities to address health risks at the animal-human-ecosystem interface (WHO and OIE), and many more.

Implementing partners, from Community-Based Organizations to UN Agencies, Government Institutions and NGOs, are the indispensible link between FAO and the people we serve: farmers, fishers, foresters, herders and their families who have been affected by agricultural threats and emergencies. Together we implement the activities designed to help populations recover from crises.
