Objective:

To rapidly initiate the resumption of farming activities and restoration of the agriculture-based livelihoods of returnee households through the provision of paddy seed.

Key partners:

The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Agrarian Services, Government Agents, Divisional Secretariats, the Department of Agriculture and other local government authorities.

Beneficiaries reached:

6 950 households including 27 800 individuals.

Activities implemented:
  •  Provided more than 641 tonnes of quality assured paddy seed to 6 950 returnee households.
  •  Conducted post-harvest assessment of 389 households to assess how the harvests were being  used.
Impact:
  •  The beneficiaries were able to produce over 22 000 tonnes of rice from the cultivation of 4 170  hectares of land.
  •  The post-harvest assessment revealed the breakdown of yield consumption, sale and preservation.
