Response analysis and planning
Following assessment of food and agricultural needs in an emergency, appropriate responses are planned. A key tool for FAO is the Plan of Action, bridging the gap between emergency and rehabilitation, typically over two years.
Plans have been formulated in Burundi and the Horn of Africa, with action planned for other African countries.
FAO may engage in various response activities during and after a crisis to preserve and rebuild livelihoods.
At the project level, the first activity in response planning is a project profile appearing in FAO or interagency appeal documents.
In the case of situation and needs analysis, FAO also employs sector specific guides for more detailed responses.
