  • Built 150 km of firewalls and rehabilitated 100 ha of pastoral land through the construction of 31 300 water retention structures (half-moon farming techniques) thanks to cash for work activities, benefiting 548 beneficiaries who received a total of XOF 21 206 900 (approximately EUR 32 320).
Impact:
  • Produced a total of 3 350 tonnes of cereals.
  • Improved food coverage of beneficiary households for a period of two to three months.
  • Protected pastoralists’ livestock from fodder deficits thanks to the distribution of animal feed.
  • Strengthened food security as well as improved dietary diversity of beneficiaries, especially on irrigated cropland.
  • Improved the productivity of 25 528 tropical livestock units (TLUs) and of 20 000 head of cattle thanks to cash+ activities, which enabled beneficiaries to maximize the value of distributed inputs.
  • Secured 5 000 ha of pasture equivalent to 1 985 tonnes of fodder thanks to firewalls, covering the feeding needs of about 2 600 small ruminants (390 TLUs) for three months.
  • Improved households’ food availability and access to commodities thanks to the rehabilitation of degraded land.
