Objective:

To alleviate food insecurity and enhance the resilience of the most vulnerable households through an improved approach to direct humanitarian livelihoods support and to improve humanitarian delivery through evidence-based and rationalized food security information, analysis and coordination.

Key partners:

The Job Creation Program – Office of the President of the Palestinian National Authority, Ministry of Agriculture, Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, United Nations Relief Works Agency and World Food Programme.

Beneficiaries reached:

656 households (approximately 4 592 individuals).

Activities implemented:
  •  Carried out beneficiary selection, ad hoc household survey and impact evaluation design.
  •  Applied FAO’s Resilience Analysis Model in the framework of the Socio-economic and Food Security  surveys
  •  Facilitated partial or full land reclamation for 478 households.
  •  Provided pregnant ewes to 50 households with enough feed for 100 days.
  •  Provided training in field crop management, fertilizer and compost management, irrigation and the  safe use of pesticides.
Impact:
  •  The project has made a contribution to the overall availability and use of data and food security  information and analysis in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, which will assist in the future planning,  implementation and evaluation of interventions.
  •  The total revenue generated from FAO’s intervention for the summer season is expected to be ILS  7 200 (USD 1 960) per beneficiary for those who received land reclamation packages.
