Objective:

To contribute to rebuild the capacity of vulnerable families affected by floods in the provinces of Tapoa, Gnagna in the eastern region as well as in the province of Namentenga in the northern-central region of Burkina Faso.

Key partners:

Ministry of Agriculture, non-governmental organizations, Association Tin Tua and Alliance technique d’appui au développement.

Beneficiaries reached:

1 715 households.

Activities implemented:
  • Distribution of 9.6 tonnes of improved seeds of cowpea, 8 tonnes of maize, 4,8 tonnes of millet, 80 tonnes of NPK fertilizer, 45 tonnes of urea, 800 liters of plant pest products and 50 pesticide sprayers.
  • Sowing of 721.6 ha of cowpea, 532.6 ha of millet and 300 ha of maize.
  • Technical training in the use of improved seeds and nutrition education, and training of trainers benefitting 1 639 people.
Impact:
  • Increased yields with production estimated at 396.4 tonnes of millet, 560.6 tonnes of cowpeas and 878.3 tonnes of maize.
  • Improved farming practices.
  • Technical capacities of 1 639 people strengthened.
  • The quality and quantity of food rations households improved.
  • Additional revenue generated.
