Animal treatment campaign in the Syrian Arab Republic

Dec 2018

Livestock is the main asset in rural areas of the Syrian Arab Republic and provides the bulk of protein consumed in the country. The protection of remaining animal assets is essential.

FAO, with support from the United States of America, is assisting 33 500 severely food-insecure livestock-owning households to protect their livestock assets and revive productive livestock activities. The ultimate aim is to enhance food security and self-reliance through improving agricultural production and dietary status.

A recently launched animal health campaign is targeting vulnerable households, especially those headed by women or people with a disability, in eight governorates.
