Seed kits to cushion harvest losses in Mozambique

May 2019

The floods and high winds due to Cyclone Idai completely wiped out at least 500 000 hectares of cropland that has been destroyed across Mozambique. FAO is aiming to reach 15 000 families with distributions of agricultural kits, funded by the Governments of Austria and Belgium. The kits contain maize and bean seeds as well as tools to help farmers get their crops back in the ground and hopefully be able to harvest in the shorter second season in July-August.
