Investigation on livestock disease transmission in South Sudan

Mar 2015

An investigation on livestock disease transmission was conducted in Nimule, South Sudan, in February 2015. A team of livestock experts from FAO and the Government of South Sudan collected dozens of blood and tissue samples from cattle and warthogs to evaluate the risk of animal diseases spreading across the border, into the nearby Nimule National Park, and farther into the country. This livestock disease investigation was supported by FAO South Sudan through the European Union- and Australia-funded Agriculture and Food Information Systems for Decision Support programme.
