Farmers affected by floods in Afghanistan

Oct 2019

After a year of severe drought, one of the worst flooding in recent years struck Afghanistan in 2019, affecting farmers, destroying their livestock and spoiling agricultural land in many parts of the country. Samangan Province, located in the northern central part of the country, was one of the worst affected areas, where more than 100 hectares of agricultural land were expected to have been damaged. FAO staff travelled to Zohrabi District to assess the impact of the floods.
