South Sudan - Emergency Livelihood Response Programme 2016
Dec 2015

As the crisis in South Sudan enters its third year, FAO remains committed to its pledge to “stay and deliver”. Despite ongoing insecurity and in response to other logistical constraints, FAO in South Sudan has been employing innovative solutions in 2015 to deliver critical and urgent humanitarian assistance – including the employment of air operations to provide emergency livelihood kits, the distribution of local seed through input trade fairs to foster national seed production, a rapid response operation to reach families in conflict-affected areas, and enhanced information management for timely decision-making and performance tracking. In 2016, FAO plans to continue its multi-track approach (survival, emergency, development) to resilience building, depending on needs, vulnerability and access.
