FAO has supported 160 women in Togdheer Region to become more resilient to the impact of climate change by establishing kitchen gardens and market gardens. Other interventions include improving apiaries for bee-keeping and supporting soil regeneration and fodder production.
The Rome-Based Agencies (RBA) Resilience Initiative is a joint project carried out by FAO and WFP. Nutrition-related activities are implemented by WFP, while FAO is responsible for activities related to agriculture, livestock and natural resources. UNICEF will also support FAO in setting up a water management committee for the water catchment.
The Ministry of Agricultural Development, Ministry of Livestock of Somaliland and FAO are conducting a field visit to take stock of the progress made.
