Desert locust livelihood support in Somaliland
Following the damage of their crops by desert locusts, FAO distributed seeds such as sorghum, maize and cowpeas to farmers in Somalia to enable them to re-plant and restore their production.
The Global Network against Food Crises Partnership Programme is a EUR 70 million project sponsored by the EU that was initiated on 27 July 2018. Conceptually, the programme has two main pillars, one at the global level (EUR 30 million) and another at country level (EUR 40 million).
To facilitate the management and monitoring of programme activities, and ensure the highest levels of accountability, the project has been setup in FAO within an umbrella structure, with a number of projects to carry out specific activities as part of the the overall programme.
