Crops planting assessment in South Sudan

Aug 2015

The crop planting assessment, conducted by FAO and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Cooperatives and Rural Development in South Sudan, covers rainfall performance, area planted, input supply, agricultural activities as compared to the previous year, pests and diseases, household livestock, pastures and movement, and the general status of households in terms of food availability and market prices. This assessment covers the entire country; however, due to insecurity, some areas were not accessible. This assessment is a yearly activity carried out by the national Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry Cooperatives and Rural Development, with financial and technical support from FAO.

These photos were taken during the assessment in Aweil East and Aweil South in Northern Bahr El Ghazal state.
