Name: Dinara Minikeeva Position: Finance Officer Duty Station: Budapest, Hungary Nationality: Uzbek
What prompted you to apply for FAO? I got very excited when I learnt that FAO was establishing Shared Services Centre in Budapest. FAO was one of the first UN agencies that adopted the innovative Shared Services model. I was eager to join the new office and participate in implementing and shaping the new service delivery solution.
What are you most proud of in your work? I am proud to work together with great people. Every member of our team is talented, competent and committed to delivering quality services. I feel great joy in supporting proficient and dedicated colleagues in FAO offices across the globe. We appreciate that we have very important and noble mandate and work hard to build a world without hunger.
What does a normal day at work look like for you? On my way to the office I take time to check my emails and review my calendar to plan my day. As I work in the client support service, during the working hours I don’t have much time for planning and analysis. I deal with queries, transactions and help to resolve problems. “Urgent” is one of the most commonly used words. But I enjoy our dynamic environment and receive a lot of thank you messages.
What advice would you give someone wishing to join FAO? We currently implement a number of changes to make our organization more efficient and focused on the needs of our member countries. It is exciting to be part of FAO renewal but it is demanding too. Be prepared to deal with changes, adapt quickly and go the extra mile again and again. At the same time, be patient as some reforms require time and involvement of all of us.
