扫盲和可持续农村生计

Rome, FAO Headquarter, 11 May 2005.

The seminar drew on examples from adult literacy programmes contribution to rural livelihoods in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The livelihoods framework emerged in the mid-1990s as an integrated people-centered approach to research and policy formulation. The framework can be used as a tool for understanding rural lives in their dynamic totality, including varied experiences of continuity and change.
The framework has recently also been used by development agencies as a way of connecting literacy to the wider context of the lives and aspirations of poor people.
The Seminar was organized by the Education for Rural People (ERP) initiative, to share experiences among its members.
The presenter, Dr John Cameron, is a Reader at the School of Development Studies, University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK.
