Support for the establishment of a national Food Insecurity and Vulnerability Information and Mapping System (FIVIMS)

Despite some progress in recent years, Yemeni statistics and economic and food security data require further development. This is particularly true for FIVIMS-related information where no such detailed information has ever been compiled. The project would be implemented as part of the national Agricultural Census which is a nation-wide major information collection activity, which may not be repeated at least during the next 10 years. Information to be collected during this census will provide a groundbreaking baseline data and information on national food security.

Food security success stories

ESA is undertaking a series of case studies across the world to provide an in-depth analysis of the state of world hunger. They will be used as background for a series of papers identifying good practice which will then be used for further analyses for cross-country comparisons of food security policies. The case studies, which should be finished by early July next year, will provide useful information in their own right and serve as valuable reference points for future cross-country analysis.
