The Twenty-First Session of the Intergovernmental Group on Meat and Dairy Products was held at FAO Headquarters in Rome, from 13 to 16 November 2006.

In line with the Group's recognition in the previous Session of the usefulness of revitalizing the IGG Session through the organization of technical meetings, the IGG session was followed by two symposia entitled:

● Market and Trade Dimensions of Avian Influenza Prevention and Control

● Dairy Value Chains and Comparative Marketing Systems

These informal fora provided opportunities for technical experts from the industry and delegates to meet and discuss issues of importance to livestock and dairy markets.
