Meeting of the FAO-OEA-IICA Working Group on Agricultural
Statistics
for Latin America and the Caribbean Countries
Cancun, Mexico, 18-21 November 2003
BACKGROUND
This meeting is a Statutory Body of
FAO, organized regularly for more than 40 years by FAO in collaboration
with regional institutions. Since 1994, these meetings are part
of the activities of the Working Group FAO-OEA/CIE-IICA on Agriculture
Statistics for Latin America and the Caribbean.
PURPOSE OF THE MEETING
The objective of the Meeting was to allow exchange
of opinions and knowledge between the Senior Officers of the national
institutions from the region and Delegates and International Experts
from international organisms on their respective activities. New
technological and methodological advances for the improvement and
development of the national programs on Food and Agricultural Statistics
were also presented.
PARTICIPANTS
Delegates and invited Experts from the following countries
participated in this meeting: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile,
Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador,
Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Spain, Surinam,
Trinidad and Tobago, United States of America and Uruguay.
Officers from FAO, the Inter-American Institute for
Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the Economic Commission for
Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) also participated in this
Meeting.
