Chisinau - Moldova

The Seventh International Round Table Discussions on Statistics of Agricultural Production, Trade, Supply/Utilization Accounts and Food Balance Sheets will be held in Chisinau, 10 - 14 May 2004 under the auspices of the Department for Statistics and Sociology of the Republic of Moldova, together with FAO.

PURPOSE

Preparation and presentation of country papers by the participants on the status of food and agricultural statistics in their respective countries to identify gaps and weaknesses for possible improvement.
Review the latest data sets on crop and livestock production and trade for all countries.
Critique, country by country, the food balance sheet 2002 as prepared by FAO for improvement of data quality and interface with national estimates of undernourishment.
Introduce the participants to the international concepts, definitions, standards and classifications of food and agricultural statistics.
Train the participants on the construction of supply/utilization accounts and food balance sheets in order that countries will be able to produce them by themselves.
