Estimating the supply response of the poor to carbon payments
This project involves the estimation of the potential supply response to carbon payments among poor land users, using empirical data from Costa Rica. The purpose of the study is twofold: to develop a methodology which can be widely applied in estimated potential supply response to environmental service payments among the poor, and to provide an empirical estimate of what this response would be in Costa Rica.
The project is being conducted in collaboration with the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs. Initial results of the work were presented to the International Association of Agricultural Economists in August 2003.
