Preparatory support to agricultural statistics and food security information systems
The project has two principal objectives. The first is the development of a revised "Framework for Agricultural and Food Security Information in Malawi" including a longer-term programme for implementation.
The second is addressing priority activities while pursuing the objectives of the longer-term programme with regards to crop estimates and forecasting, cross-border trade and market information, meeting immediate and medium-term information needs, developing a conceptual
framework for agricultural and food security information and preparations for the National Agricultural Census.
Food security success stories
ESA is undertaking a series of case studies across the world to provide an in-depth analysis of the state of world hunger. They will be used as background for a series of papers identifying good practice which will then be used for further analyses for cross-country comparisons of food security policies. The case studies, which should be finished by early July next year, will provide useful information in their own right and serve as valuable reference points for future cross-country analysis.
