Ramón Lopez
Professor of Agriculture and Resource Economics University of Maryland
BACKGROUND
Ramón Lopez is Professor of Economics at the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Maryland at College Park, USA. He is also Senior Fellow at the Center for Development Research (ZEF) at the University of Bonn, Germany. His main fields of specialization are Economic Development, Agricultural and Environmental Economics and International Trade Theory and Policy. Professor López is co-editor of the journal Environment and Development Economics and is on the editorial board of several journals. He is the author of three books and of a large number of articles in major economic journals. He has been advisor and consultant with the World Bank, InterAmerican Development Bank and several other international organizations and governments in matters of trade, poverty, agriculture and environmental policies.

BACKGROUND:
Alberto Valdés is an agricultural adviser to the World Bank in Washington DC. Previously he held the position of Program Director for International Trade and Food Security at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in Washington DC.

BACKGROUND:
Started professional activities on international trade and agricultural policy in the Swiss administration, then moved to OECD; from 1987 to end–2001, Director for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries at OECD; in parallel to OECD, also lecturer at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at Zurich (CH) until 1987.
SKILLS:
Project management, drafting and supervision of policy–oriented studies, chairing internal and official meetings, providing an integrated approach between agriculture and other sectors and issues; experience within many international organisations.

From 1983 to mid-1989, Randy was an Associate Research Scientist and Lecturer in agricultural economics at the University of Wisconsin's Land Tenure Center. From 1989 to 1996, he worked as an economist with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, Policy Analysis Division, in Rome
